Golf Putting Tips - Want To Know The Secret To Perfect
Putting?
For a lot of golfers getting to the
green is not the problem, it is once you are on that close cut green surface that the problems
start!
You know the saying Drive for Show,
putt for dough - The putter is probably the most used club on the course and for many golf players the most
frustrating. Here are some golf putting tips which will help you achieve a great putting
stroke.

Most golf instructors instill in their students the regime of keeping
the body and head still while putting. I have found that just saying "keep still" does not work.
The key is to keep your eyes still during the stroke, then the body
and head will naturally remain quiet. To achieve this, look at the grass that was under the ball after the
putting stroke has been made. In this way, you make a positive move to keep the eyes over the ball until it
is already moving toward the hole.
Another secret to perfect putting is on
the practice green you must practice making putts, not missing them. Putt from no more than six feet out, and
preferably around four feet out. Even the pros make only about half their 6-footers. If you're practicing
15-footers, you're only hurting your confidence.
A good putting tip is to always end your practice session by making
short putts. Don't walk off the green on a miss. Force yourselve to make four or five putts in a row to end
the session - even if you have to putt from 8 inches to do it.
One way to improve your feel for the putting stroke and distance
control is to practice your putting stroke with your eyes closed. This makes you focus on the feel
of the putter head during the stroke and then you can guage the distance the ball will travel. It is not
advisable to do this on the course!
Visualize to stay positive. Confidence plays a huge role in putting.
As you stand over putts, visualize your ball rolling straight up to the cup and imagine hearing the sound of
the ball dropping into the cup. Another way of achieving this is to visualise a bulls eye target behind the
hole, this will encourage you to accelerate the putter through to the hole.
Remember to keep your eyes directly over the ball. When your eyes are
over the ball, you have a much better chance of stroking it accurately and imparting end-over-end
rotation.
If you need putting help with your distance control, try rehearsing a
few strokes without a putter while standing in a golf-like address position. Now, take a ball in your hand
and roll the ball toward the hole. When you think you have good feel for how hard to roll it, put the putter
back in your hand and use the same motion to hit the ball.
